Oregon is blessed with many things – 300 days of annual sunshine, a wealth of natural beauty, friendly locals and much more. It’s also blessed with beer. Lots and lots of beer. And this is not just any beer – it’s some of the craft brewing world’s very best offerings. The experts at Sunriver’s Twisted River Tavern have their fingers on the pulse of this vibrant scene, seeking out the latest/greatest brews … Check out a few hopped-up highlights below.
[Note: In an effort to keep things fresh, the Twisted River’s tap menu changes regularly – if any of these beers aren’t available during your visit, just ask your bartender for recommendations. You’re guaranteed to find something you love.]
Sunriver Brewing Fuzztail Hefeweisen
A 2017 Great American Beer Festival Gold Medal-winner, this crisp American-style hefeweizen is brewed right in Sunriver’s backyard by the masters at Sunriver Brewing, who use a carefully selected blend of NW hops to achieve citrusy perfection. At 5% ABV, it’s a refreshing beer that’s an ideal chaser to a day enjoying the great outdoors in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains – whether golfing, canoeing, skiing or horseback riding.
10 Barrel Locals Only IPA
Hop Freaks unite! With locations all over the western U.S. (including Portland and Bend), 10 Barrel Brewing has made a name for itself in the crowded beer scene thanks to its impeccably crafted brews and sense of adventure. The Locals Only IPA is a deliciously hoppy beer with a mouthwatering flavor and a wonderfully clean finish. Order one … and pretty soon, you’ll be ordering another.
Boneyard RPM IPA
Straight out of Bend, IPA connoisseurs should also give this revved-up brew a try. Boneyard Beer’s flagship offering is a supremely hoppy sip, with delectable pineapple flavors rising to the top. It’s the crisp equivalent of a blast of fresh Oregon air.
Worthy Stoker Red Ale
To borrow a phrase from Wayne and Garth – we’re not worthy! This red ale from Bend’s Worthy Brewing is made with four Oregon hops and Mandarina Bavariana buds, creating a powerfully fiery flavor. The Stoker boasts just the right blend of malty and citrus flavorings, with hints of lemon, tangerine, pear and rye all coming through in equal measure. Complex, perhaps, but very easy going down.
Cascade Lakes 20" Brown
Named in honor of the legendary (and legendarily enormous) Brown Trout found in Northwest streams, the 20" Brown uses six varieties of Northwest grown malt and Centennial and Willamette hops. With notes of toasted grain, brown sugar and caramel, it’s a truly satisfying beer – one sip and you’ll be hooked.
