A workstation with a view is much better than that boring old home office. Get cozy here at Sunriver, while enjoying free wi-fi and the comforts of home in your weekly abode. Keep that dress-shirt hung on the back of your desk chair for those online calls – you won’t want your colleagues knowing how much fun you’re having!
40+ MILES OF PAVED TRAILS PLUS THE BEST MTN BIKING AROUND
After settling into your home away from home, you will probably want to get the lay of the land. Head over to the Bike Barn, where over 300 bike rentals are ready and waiting for you! With over 40 miles of paved trails, you’ll find yourself cruising for hours – the perfect way to stretch out those legs after your journey to Sunriver.
Hungry for dinner? Order Carson’s To-Go, direct to the room, as you continue to unwind from your drive or flight. One of the perks of being in the Pacific Northwest are the amazing sunsets. After dinner, put your tennies on and take a stroll down any section of our beautiful, paved trail system and enjoy the sunset, bringing a close to your peaceful evening.
FLOAT THE RIVER
Perhaps today is perfect for being on the water. Take a long lunch because Sunriver Resort offers a 6-mile float (2-3 hours depending on the vessel) out of the Marina. Choose your vessel of choice, whether it be a canoe, kayak or stand-up paddleboard and float down the Deschutes River among islands of tall grasses, past the horses, and you might even see a bald eagle if you’re lucky! And yes, your furry friend is welcome too! Find everything you need at the Marina Shop – sunscreen, water bags, swimsuits, etc. The temperature can be cool on the water, so layer-up moving into the fall months.
For Dinner, we recommend Suniver Brewing Company (reservations needed), which offers pub fare with an artisan flare and amazing beer for all palettes. They also offer curbside pickup if you’d like to head back to your room or home.
COVE POOL OVER LUNCH & OBSERVATORY IN THE EVENING
Load up at Carson’s American Kitchen, where you will find an array of delectable breakfast plates and morning beverages. What’s popular? Try Bend’s famous Ocean Rolls, baked by our partner The Sparrow Bakery, served French-Toast-style — YUM.
The afternoon might be a good time to hit up The Cove, featuring a zero-entry pool and hot tub, private cabanas, a waterslide, nature walk and discovery area, lakeside trails and a spacious deck and lawn. Looking to work from the pool? Activate that Wi-Fi and rent a cabana to spread out a bit. The Spotted Frog Café, located at The Cove is the perfect spot for delicious lunchtime fare while enjoying the sunshine. Pool reservations can be made online before you arrive.
Looking for something to do in the evening? Head over to the nation’s largest publicly accessible Observatory, here in Sunriver. This NASA-sponsored outlet will blow your mind! One-hour sessions include night sky viewing through various telescopes with staff astronomers, a guided constellation tour, meteorite displays, and an educational presentation. For reservations and ticketing information, click here.
Fun Fact: Did you know that Sunriver has been recognized as one of 130 locations in the WORLD that has been inducted into the International Dark Sky Places program? We’ve spent over 60 years protecting our pristine skies from light pollution! Sunriver is the only place that holds this title in all of Oregon — way to go, Sunriver!
SNEAK IN SOME GOLF AT MEADOWS
Let’s sneak in a little golf today over at Meadows. Depending on your schedule, you can go hit a bucket of balls, play around on the 9-hole putting green, or play the course. The course is super accessible, right behind The Lodge, and your tee times can be scheduled ahead of time, click here, or head into the Merchant Trader on foot, where our golf pros can help you find time on the green.
Meadows is acclaimed architect John Fought's latest creation. The course features tremendous variety within its 18 holes, seven of which border the meandering Sun River. Fought's design pays tribute to the great American golf courses from the 1920's and 30's with its aesthetic grace, while its dramatic use of directional and fore-bunkers serve up ample challenges for golfers of all skill levels.
The Meadows golf course has played host to numerous USGA and NCAA golf championships, including the NCAA Men's Division I championship tournament. In addition to 18 exciting holes, Meadows is also home to the popular 9-hole putting course. Named one of the Top 10 Destinations for Family Golf by Golf Digest, January 2016. Ranked #15 in Golf Advisor's Golfer's Choice Award: Best of Oregon Golf Courses 2019.
Enjoy lunch and a beer with amazing views of Mt. Bachelor at The Backyard (just behind The Lodge). The perfect spot to kick back, relax, and check your phone for emails!
BIKE TO BENHAM FALLS
Get a quick hike or bike in at Benham Falls, located on the outskirts of Sunriver and accessible by trail from the Resort. This easy trail will take you 1.5 miles through Ponderosa Pines and along the heavy whitewater of the Deschutes River. After an eruption of nearby Lava Butte around 7,000 years ago, the river dammed up, eventually giving way, creating the massive rush of water we call Benham Falls.
Tonight, we recommend you head to Carson’s American Kitchen for dinner. Some of our favorites: Coho Salmon with roasted corn succotash; pork chop with aged white cheddar soufflé; seafood pasta, and of course, the filet. Please make a reservation ahead of time by calling (541) 593-3740. Carson’s is also available for pick-up.
CRUISE THE CASCADE LAKES HIGHWAY
Get out and roam. The Cascade Lakes National Scenic Byway begins right here in Sunriver, at Century Drive! This road is open seasonally, and closes in October, so get up there while you still can! With sweeping views of Mt. Bachelor, Broken Top and the Three Sisters, you will enter Dutchman Flat and the first string of Cascade Lakes, beginning with Todd Lake. Stop by Elk Lake Resort for lunch! They have a quaint cabin-like restaurant with an outdoor deck overlooking the water.

MASSAGE & A LITTLE SHOPPING
We hope your last day is relaxing, as you ramp up to travel. Schedule an appointment at Sage Spring Spa for a Deep Tissue Massage which targets specific areas to release chronic patterns of tension. This therapeutic treatment utilizes arnica oil, deep strokes and pressure to alleviate tight, sore muscles.
And before you go, hit up the Merchant Trader Gift Shop, downstairs at The Lodge, for a T-shirt, sweater or hat to remember us by!
