Explore our ultimate summer itinerary with the adventures and activities not-to-miss on your next stay – from scenic helicopter adventures over the majestic Cascade Range to indulgent spa days and stargazing nights. Let the summer magic begin.
Day 1: Soak Up the Scenery
You’ve arrived. First stop after check-in? Swing by the Living Room and ask to see our drink menu, featuring the best of Central Oregon’s wine and more. Sip, sit back and soak up the scenery. Or, head straight to your room to unwind (and check out your views!) before heading to Lodge Kitchen for a nourishing ranch-to-table meal beside sweeping meadow and mountain views. End the day with a peaceful evening stroll along our system of paved trails and witness a beautiful Pacific Northwest sunset.
Day 2: Float Down the Deschutes
Embark on a 6-mile float down the Deschutes River by canoe, kayak, or stand-up paddleboard. The Marina Shop has everything you need, from sunscreen to swimsuits. Vacationing with a furry four-legged friend? They’re welcome too! Along the way, enjoy the picturesque views of grassy islands, horses, and – if you’re lucky – a beautiful bald eagle. Pack a sack lunch or order a to-go charcuterie platter from Lodge Kitchen to fuel your adventure. For dinner, indulge in delicious cuisine – fresh salad, paninis, brick-oven pizza, and more – at Caldera Springs’ Zeppa Bistro, overlooking Obsidian Lake and Mt. Bachelor.
Day 3: Rejuvenate at Sage Springs Spa
Today is all about you. Begin the morning centering your chakras with a Hatha Flow Yoga class beside the river, followed by a nature walk – all hosted by Sage Springs Spa. Next, treat yourself to a rejuvenating massage, whether the Riverside Relaxer or Deschutes Deep Tissue. Make sure to book ahead of time and ask about our beverage add-ons. (Champagne, anyone?). Come evening, dine over a nourishing meal – and sunset views – at Lodge Kitchen. Might we recommend the seafood pasta, cornmeal crusted red band Idaho trout, or spinach rotolo rolled lasagna? And of course, there’s always the ever-popular filet.
Day 4: Experience a Helicopter & Wine Tour
Embark on a breathtaking 60-minute helicopter tour over the snow-capped Cascade Range and the Ring of Fire. Depart from Sunriver Airport with Big Mountain Heli-Tours and enjoy stunning views of Bend and the Cascade Mountains. Complimentary wine tasting and a bottle of wine from VaPiano await you after the flight. Seeking more? Opt for a Helicopter Wine Tour from Sunriver Airport to private vineyards with panoramic views of the Three Sisters Mountains. Experience the beauty of Smith Rock and the Mountain range from the air or the winery's tasting room. Savor a charcuterie, artisan cheese, and chocolate tasting board amidst the breathtaking mountain scenery. This tour can be customized for weddings, bachelorettes, corporate events, and more.
For dinner, head to The Grille at Crosswater. Set amidst tall grasses and rolling greenery, our Northwest-inspired restaurant offers a distinctive menu of New American cuisine prepared with the freshest local ingredients. Enjoy indoor or outdoor seating and take advantage of complimentary shuttle service to and from the resort. Reservations are required.
Day 5: Chase Waterfalls & Dine Atop a Volcano
Sunriver and its surrounding areas are home to many beautiful waterfalls. Benham Falls can be accessed by vehicle, on foot, or on bike straight from Sunriver Resort. Tumalo Falls offers a lookout deck situated off the parking lot or an easy hike to the top. Paulina Creek Falls has an accessible trail to picnic sites and a stunning overlook. Whatever you choose, you’re sure to work up an appetite. Keep up the adventure and ascend Mt. Bachelor via chairlift for a unique dining experience at Pine Marten Lodge, where guests can dine over a locally inspired prix-fixe menu atop the volcano, at 7,800’, with panoramic Cascade views. Make sure to bundle up in layers!
Day 6: Sunbathe by Day, Stargaze by Night
Opt for a day at The Cove, featuring a zero-entry pool and hot tub, private cabanas, a waterslide, a nature walk and discovery area, lakeside trails, and a spacious deck and lawn. Seeking privacy? Reserve a cabana and stretch out. Getting hungry? Grab lunch at The Spotted Frog, located at The Cove. After you’ve had your share of sunshine, head to the Owl's Nest for pub bites and a homespun cocktail, craft beer, or your choice from Pacific Northwest wine varieties. After dark, visit the nation’s largest, publicly accessible Observatory for a mesmerizing stargazing experience. A one-hour session at this NASA-sponsored destination includes viewing telescopes with staff astronomers, a guided constellation tour, meteorite displays, and more.
Day 7: Savor, Shop, & Return Refreshed
This AM, your toughest decision should be a choice between the Bananas Foster French Toast and the Blueberry Pancakes at Lodge Kitchen. After savoring a breakfast of champions – and soaking up those expansive views overlooking the Backyard, pond, green, and Cascade mountains – sneak in one more stroll on our lush trails, breathe in that pine air, and reminisce about your getaway. Psst – don’t forget to bring back something special for your loved ones at home! Before you pack up, pop into Merchant Trader for memorable gifts and souvenirs to remember your stay.
